For your first birthday

Oh Lydia Jane, my sweet Lydia Jane
You are far from plain

You like to hang upside down
Just to clown around
And mimic your brother's faces
even when he is putting his cars on the track for races.

Oh Lydia Jane, my sweet Lydia Jane
You are far from plain

You lead with a smile and a kiss
Even when everything is amiss
And brighten all of our days
Like the sunshine after a hard rain.

Oh Lydia Jane, my sweet Lydia Jane
You are far from plain

You like to snuggle with your blankie on my chest
And pretend like you are getting ready for beauty rest
Then pop up and give me a grin
How can I resist you, so fun yet feminine.

Oh Lydia Jane, my sweet Lydia Jane
You are far from plain

Your beauty is no secret, this is true
For your eyes are ocean blue
And your hair the color of auburn, my love
You were surely sent from above.

Commencement

Dear Sweet girl,

I am starting this blog mainly because I want to capture my thoughts and prayers for you in hopes that one day they might encourage you to be a woman who loves Jesus with all of her heart.
Tonight I had the pleasure of holding you and giving you an extra bottle to soothe you back to sleep. You gently took your sweaty little hand and brushed it across my face. Almost like you were checking to make sure it was still me even though you could not see my face in the dark. It was such a loving touch. Thanks for loving your mama even though you do not yet realize all the wrong I do. The love you give me without realization is much like Christ's love to us. Unreserved and undeserved.

I love you so much and am so proud to be your mommy.
